Ministry of Defence Architecture Framework (MODAF)
The Ministry of Defence Architecture Framework (MODAF) is designed to improve systems interoperability, which is crucial to the success of military operations. MODAF, mandated for use on new Ministry of Defence projects from 2006, is a key enabler for Network Enabled Capability (NEC). While the framework is predominantly used for acquisition purposes, MODAF can be used to analyze operational systems and improve their integration with both new and existing systems. MODAF incorporates aspects of the U.S. Department of Defense Architectural Framework (DoDAF) specification, the most mature and widely adopted architectural framework in the industry. This framework has its origins in the C4ISR community and is seen as a fundamental part of the DoD's drive towards Network Centric Warfare. Telelogic and MODAF
Telelogic System Architect® has long been the world's leading DoDAF solution. Telelogic System Architect® for MODAF is one of the first modeling solutions recognised by the U.K. Ministry of Defence (MoD) to comprehensively support MODAF. The MODAF solution is fully compatible with the DODAF solution. It enables users to capture, build and maintain large, complex enterprise architectures, ensuring consistency among all stakeholders. System Architect for MODAF supports all five views of MODAF (Strategic Views, Acquisition Views, Operational Views, Systems Views, and Technical Views). Learn about System Architect >> Telelogic Rhapsody® is the industry-leading UML® 2.1 and OMG SysML™-based Model Driven Development™ (MDD™) environment for real-time and embedded systems engineering and software development. The Rhapsody DoDAF Pack provides a DoDAF modeling profile that supports all DoDAF views and generates DoDAF-compliant documentation. A Rhapsody MODAF Package is planned for release in 2007.
